IMAGINE the pleasure, pride and delight on receiving a positive local education authority inspection report, only to read your headline "Council told to raise standards" (TES, September 17)

Rutland was praised by the inspector. The inspection team found a positive relationship with schools, an agreement to raise standards beyond the existing high performance, an efficient authority providing sound value for money and a flexible approach from officers that ensures that this small authority meets all statutory requirements.

The Rutland report has only seven recommendations for action, whereas most reports are well above that number.
