Pounds 20m for volunteers

Home Secretary Michael Howard this week announced a Pounds 20 million package to encourage more people to do voluntary work. The "Every Hour Makes a Difference" initiative targets young people aged between 16 and 24.

A new body called the Volunteering Partnership will be set up with 20 new local agencies, each receiving up to Pounds 60,000 a year for up to two years.
