Private projects worth pound;800m

More than pound;800 million worth of private finance initiative projects for English schools have been agreed so far, ministers have disclosed. The contracts, signed by 30 English local authorities, include building new schools, refurbishing existing facilities and providing information and technology services. Projects typically last 25-30 years, education minister Stephen Timms said, in a written response to a parliamentary question from Liberal Democrat education spokesman Phil Willis.
