Schools which excel at fundraising will be recognised by new awards.
The Genies will judge charity drives organised on behalf of children's charity Jeans for Genes and several factors will be taken into account, not just the amount of money raised. Innovative ideas, teamwork, and ways of sharing the fundraising message will all be considered.
The judging panel will comprise Gerard Kelly, editor of the Times Educational Supplement in England, scientist and television presenter Johnny Ball, and Jeans for Genes chief executive Caroline Harding.
The charity uses education to promote awareness and tolerance of physical differences and is well known for its annual Jeans for Genes day, when pupils and staff wear jeans to school in return for donations. This year's event is on October 3.
Nomination forms can be downloaded at www.jeansforgenes.com The deadline is November 17.
