Pupil premium? We've already got one, or four

4th February 2011 at 00:00

We already have at least four pupil premiums in operation: for those attending very small schools; for those eligible for free school meals; for those attending schools which are able to attract wealthy sponsors; and for those attending a school on the Isles of Scilly ... I don't believe all schools should receive the same funding per pupil regardless of the nature of those pupils. I am, however, concerned for the plight of those schools in the low free school meals bracket, which are about to fall even further behind in the funding league tables.

Colin Fleetwood, Headteacher, Grenoside Community Primary, Sheffield.
