Jennifer Salt appears to forget that PGCE students undergo three years of unfunded university study before they begin teacher training. Miss Salt presents PGCE students as mercenaries more interested in a few thousand pounds of government money than teaching. In truth they are highly qualified and widely experienced. Why else would the Government be so keen to attract them?
