Rainforest gift to youth delegates

28th October 2005 at 01:00
A 32-acre patch of Ecuador rainforest has been given to young people who took part in this week's European Union youth event in Cardiff. Education and lifelong learning minister Jane Davidson told delegates that it was young people who would decide the success of the EU's agenda to create a fairer, more prosperous Europe which is "more mindful of our environment".

The conference focus was on increasing youth participation in local life.

It was organised by 22 people aged 16-25 from the UK, including eight members of Funky Dragon, the youth assembly in Wales.
