* Children in Scotland publishes Designing Schools for the Future: a practical guide (2003, pound;15) and is running an international award for the most successful building or space for children aged under 10 (closing date June 17 2005), and a conference in Edinburgh, December 8-9 2005, Making Space: architecture and design for young children.; tel 0131 228 8484.

* The Design Council's website has detailed information on a variety of design issues as well as listings for designers:; tel 020 7420 5200.

* School Works publishes a variety of books about design processes. Its tool kit is free to schools and can be ordered from the website, which also includes case studies and best practice guidelines:; tel 0845 456 1803.

* The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment has a special education section. The website has ideas for resources and events around designbuilding projects and downloads for information and a design magazine:; tel 020 7960 2400.
