Book Exciting Writing by Jacquline Harrett (Paul Chapman pound;16.99). This book lives up to its title, providing inspirational teaching ideas, using picture photographs and films as starting points for writing. A worthy winner of the UKLA Teacher's Book Award. Website www.storiesfrom theweb.org is an established website that is attractive, clearly presented and easy to navigate. It is brimming with ideas for book related stories, writing, games and drawing, plus a gallery where children can submit their work. Resource Children's Authors TV: Jane Ray, Nicholas Allan, Laurence and Catherine Anholt (www.childrensauthors.tv pound;19.50 per DVD). These DVDs are a super resource for Children's Book Week (October 1-7). Each DVD profiles a well known author or illustrator and includes informal interviews conducted by children.
