Resources - Date to celebrate - March 12-21 - National Science and Engineering Week

26th February 2010 at 00:00

What is it all about?

National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) is a 10-day programme of science, engineering and technology events and activities across the UK aimed at people of all ages. It is now in its 17th year; this year's theme is Earth.

Classroom ideas

There are many entertaining and engaging activities you can encourage your pupils to take part in to celebrate NSEW. Primaries could hold a "space day" where pupils come to school dressed as aliens, planets or anything else from space. They can learn about science and ICT at the same time by using interactive whiteboards in the ICT suite. For older pupils you could arrange a model-making project on their favourite science-related theme such as space, gravity or Earth, which can be incorporated into engineering and science lessons. Each group can unveil their project as the highlight of the week and then you could host a space party for the whole class.
