Rise in HE applicants

More BTEC students than ever before have applied to university, with 85,000 seeking to enter higher education this year, according to Pearson. The parent company of the BTEC awarding body Edexcel, Pearson, said the applications were up 21 per cent from 70,000 last year. Art and design, business and IT were among the most popular subjects.
