Rising star - Naomi Duffy-Price

29th January 2010 at 00:00

Kaizen Primary School in Newham, London, where Naomi is acting assistant headteacher.

Naomi joined the school in September 2008 as leader of creativity and by July 2009 completed the Fast Track teaching programme. In September 2009, Naomi's hard work and dedication was rewarded when she was appointed acting assistant head.

She now heads the early education team, which has grown substantially as the school has expanded its intake. Naomi works hard to find new staff and is recognised as a brilliant team leader.

Since joining less than two years ago, she has really made her mark and is credited with successfully re-structuring the Year 1 curriculum to bring it in line with early-years foundation stage requirements. Naomi's creativity is also a great asset: she recently won a #163;10,000 grant for the school after putting in a bid to the local authority.

Naomi's impact on the school has been extremely beneficial, and her enthusiasm and dedication to developing staff and creating a strong team does not go unnoticed.

Her colleagues praise her commitment to the children and school, and credit her with always looking for the best solutions to problems and consistently supporting all members of the team.

Nominated by?

Rebekah Iiyambo, co-headteacher, who says: "First and foremost, Naomi is a real 'learner' herself who views every situation as a potential opportunity. She is a stand-out teacher and I'm sure she will make a fantastic head - I would recommend her for headship in the future and think the NPQH would be a great step in the right direction."

Thanks to the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children's Services for nominating this week's rising star. Send in your one to watch to features@tes.co.uk, including 300 words and a picture.
