River Cafe helps pay the bills

COMPETITION is growing between parents to organise the trendiest school fundraiser as the River Cafe tries to top the efforts of the Groucho Club.

An auction of art at the Groucho by artists including Damien Hirst, Gavin Turk and Sarah Lucas raised around pound;150,000 for the cash-strapped Soho Parish primary. Now parents at Barrow Hill junior school, Westminster, have recruited River Cafe chef Rose Grey and restaurateur Tom Conran to cook a fundraising supper on May 20. Entertainment will be provided by rising opera star, soprano Jennifer McGregor.
