Directors, as we know, have a hard time, what with closing schools and all that - sorry, trying to close schools. Roger Stewart, in Fife, is one of that happy band. Such has his reputation developed that one parent told him he was the only director of education whose first name was also a verb.

We are grateful to Fraser Sanderson, his Dumfries and Galloway colleague, for this gem - which means, of course, that we cannot verify it.
