Rugby clubs throughout Scotland have been urged by the Scottish Rugby Union to capitalise on schools festivals that are held by the governing body's development officers.

The SRU has circulated clubs with ideas for holding talent days during the close season for children aged eight and upwards. Clubs have also been urged to hold touch rugby summer clubs to keep up interest.

While thousands of children throughout Scotland take part in taster festivals organised by development officers, relatively few of them go on to join clubs and the SRU is keen to address the issue.
