Sacking appeal

11th November 1994 at 00:00
Jacky Tonge is expected to appeal against her dismissal as director of education in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Ms Tonge, aged 47, was originally sacked from her Pounds 44,000 post in June last year after only 11 months in the job. The council was forced by the High Court to reinstate her and she has been suspended on full pay for 16 months.

A three-member investigation committee, which had met in private, announced this week it was satisfied Ms Tonge was mainly to blame for a "fundamental breakdown" between her and the council.
