Safety review

Arrangements for keeping children safe at private and boarding schools are to be reviewed. Ed Balls, Schools Secretary, announced the investigation would be led by Sir Roger Singleton, chairman of the Independent Safeguarding Authority. It is expected to report back in February. David Lyscom, chief executive of the Independent Schools Council, acknowledged that there was scope for improvements. "The safeguarding of our children has to be a top priority, whatever their school," he said.
