School to lose lecturer monopoly;In brief;FE Focus

The monopoly of the Scottish School of Further Education at Jordanhill is about to be broken following the Scottish Office's decision to approve Stirling University's Institute of Education as a training centre for FE lecturers. Others are likely to follow.

The Anderson committee recommended in 1993 that the School of FE should no longer be the sole provider of the FE teaching qualification.
