Schuller gains pioneer post

Tom Schuller, director of the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Edinburgh, is to become Birkbeck's first professor of Lifelong Learning.

Professor Schuller is a member of the Secretary of State's National Advisory Group of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning, and recently completed a study of part-time education in Scotland.

Birkbeck, part of the University of London, has partnerships with some 30 FE colleges and 33 Workers Educational Association branches.
