Science - In the spotlight
Explore the frozen oceans
The extensive frozen oceans resource pack, produced by Digital Explorer and sponsored by Catlin Group, offers a range of lesson plans, interactive games, video clips, investigations and worksheets for science and geography lessons.
What is it?
The resource pack covers:
- changing climates;
- ocean acidification;
- Arctic and sea ice;
- research and data analysis skills;
- ocean food chains.
It has been put together on the back of three scientific expeditions to the Arctic between 2009-11.
How can it be used?
Videos and diagrams can be selected by teachers and uploaded on to a timeline for easy use in lessons. Pupils can browse these as an independent learning task. The pack includes a range of classroom activities: fact files, quizzes, food chain diagrams, storyboards, diary entries and practical investigations. The GCSE collections explain the relevance of the content to each exam board.
Who is it for?
The resources are tailored to key stage 3 and GCSE science and geography syllabuses.
