Science tops fast-track roll

FAST-track teacher-training courses for high-flying graduates have attracted 1,574 applicants - the vast majority (1,115) for secondary places. The most popular subjects are science (301), Eglish (198), maths (137), and languages (125) - all shortage areas. Sixteen opted for physical education, 24 each for music, design and technology, and 32 for religious education.
