Farewell to Craig Duncan, depute gen sec of the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association. The veteran official has not always had it easy - he was once charged with introducing classics in the unpromising territory of Auchenharvie Academy in Ayrshire.

"If the World Cup had been played in Saltcoats and English hooligans had paraded down the front, it would have been no contest," he told his retirement luncheon last Friday.
