Seaside memories

23rd June 2006 at 01:00
Dinner from the Salvation Army, playing marbles in the street, the arrival of TB, seaside minstrels with their banjos - these and other experiences come to life in the superb Education Pack from QueenSpark Publishers. They have published 80 books of memoirs, mainly focusing on working-class life in Brighton and Hove in the first half of the 20th century. The books can be explored online and the Education Pack has extracts on themes such as school, home, work and the World Wars. The memories are local but the appeal is universal.
