One shudders to think what the west of Scotland heidie was thinking of when she penned these immortal lines for the parents' Christmas newsletter:

"Dear Parents, It is hard to believe that we have almost arrived at 'that'

time of year again and the 'C' word is on everybody's lips as the school practises carols, Nativities are rehearsed and decorations made."

Along with the lesser-used 'F' and 'B' words, presumably.
