As a former minister (of the ecclesiastical variety) and now one of Her Majesty's inspectors in further education, Iain MacRobert is no doubt used to being called many things.

But it took Langside College principal Graeme Hyslop to spot MacRobert's latest "promotion". And so it was that Hyslop was able to congratulate him at a recent further education meeting on his beatification, nay deification. For there it was in black and white in the minutes: Iain MacRobert, HIM.

This is a rather faster rise through the ranks than might be expected in the Civil Service. We're happy to pass on Mr Hyslop's assurance that his congratulations to HIM had nothing to do with the fact that HE is coming to inspect Langside College in February.
