Sex aid wanted

Perhaps it was the rigour of this column's analysis of the education scene or maybe it was just our obvious fascination with anything salacious: either way, the diary was delighted this week to receive an invitation to an academic conference in Toronto on the "Erotics of Teaching".

We have been asked to submit a paper "exploring the (inherent?) eroticism of the teachinglearning relationship" and "to determine what constitutes such a tension and to discuss the potential benefits and liabilities of it".

Of course we hacks haven't got a clue what they are on about. If anyone - perhaps the former chief inspector of schools? - could help us explore "the pedagogical implications of how erotic energy has factored into their own educational experience, either as students or as teachers" we would be grateful.
