The shame of a name
Every teacher has at least one of them on the class register - the name that seemed quirky and fun when the baby was born but the poor child has to live with for the rest of their life.
Last week thebabywebsite.com released the findings of a survey into Britain's most unfortunate names. Highlights include RAF man Stan Still, whose commanding officer used to love shouting "Stan Still, get a move on" to the hilarity of his fellow airmen.
Joining Stan on the list are Terry Bull, Paige Turner, Mary Christmas and Hazel Nutt.
Some of the names to come out of the US are even worse: Annette Curtain, Carrie Oakey and Bill Board, to name a few.
But what are some of the worst names to call out in class? A poll of teachers on The TES website last year unearthed a teacher who had taught a Jezebel and a Lolita; a child that was going to be called 4real but it was disallowed so they named him Superman instead; siblings called Versace and Gucci and even a Chlamydia because her mum liked the sound of it.
