OH DEAR, had the subs all gone on holiday for Christmas so there was nobody to save Bob Doe from his champagne-befuddled, laddish howler? "Simon Weil.... he put it in French". Not all philosophers are men you know.

Otherwise your TES millennium edition (December 31) was a delight. In these sad days when history of education, philosophy of ducation and child development are no longer thought appropriate study for aspiring teachers, how good to have some of the gaps filled. Keep up the good work.
