Singing the blues

So the new chair of the Scottish Funding Council is a blue nose. John McClelland has an impressive business and education CV, but is best-known as a member of the board at Rangers and a former chairman, no less.

Who better then to control the purse strings of the universities and colleges? As right-hand man to David Murray, the Rangers owner, McClelland was charged with managing the club's astronomical debt of pound;74 million.

He ain't seen nothing yet.
