Sir Edward Britton dies

Sir Edward Britton, general secretary of the National Union of Teachers from 1970 to 1975, has died at the age of 93. He was the last general secretary of the union to be knighted. Sir Edward was also a former general secretary of the Association of Teachers in Technical Institutions, which later became the college lecturers' union, Natfhe.
