Smart investment

George Watson's College and Inverkeithing High School are among 290 successful schools nationwide which have reached the quarter-finals of the ProShare National Investment Programme 2001. Open to all UK schools and colleges, the programme is based around a series of investment challenges taking seven months (November2000-May 2001).

Each quarter-final team must now produce an investment report on its portfolios and compete in a trading ground. The top 21 teams will go through to the three regional semi-finals in March, and the qualifying top six will be invited to take part in the national final in London in May.
