Sold out by this partnership

Union leaders Mary Bousted and Chris Keates say working in partnership with the Government is "the best way to make progress" ("Unions' fruitful partnership", TES, February 10). That depends how you define progress.

For some, progress means improvements in teachers' pay and conditions; for others, it means supporting pay cuts aimed at the very members in whose interests you are expected to act.

Over-exposure to government newspeak seems to have left some general secretaries confused.
