Soundbite;Parting Shots

The junior European citizens visited the mobile European information centre. Once on board, the information assistant quizzed them about what they knew.

They negotiated the "What's France famous for?" section, they "did" flags and then, "So, in Denmark they speak Danish, in Sweden they speak Swedish, in Spain they speak Spanish . . . I wonder what they speak in Italy?" Michael thought for a moment: "Italish?" he suggested.

"Almost."

'Almost' in this context meant what exactly? Nevertheless, Michael found it reassuring, and, buoyed up by this he was ready for anything.

"... and in Austria?" The hesitation was only fleeting. This was really easy.

"Ostrich."
