Gary was on his way out of the dining hall following his Christmas lunch when I noticed that he still had a satsuma segment on his plate. As I picked it up and popped it into my mouth, I said: "Don't you like satsumas, Gary?" "Oh yes," came the reply, "but I just suck the juice out."


I was casually chatting to a group of five-year-olds at the end of the day. Imentioned that I had to go and collect my husband from work. One asked where he worked. "At the steel works," I told them.

Another child leaned close to me and whispered: "And what does he steal?"
