Spare the cost of a meal

17th March 2000 at 00:00
MY head has told me that I

cannot claim the costs of meals taken while conducting a school visit. Is she right?

I don't think so, although, as in most things, circumstances

determine cases. In preparing the budget for a school journey, be t a day trip or an extended visit, it is quite legitimate to include reasonable staff expenses within the costings which

determine how much pupils pay.

It is reasonable to assume that transport costs and subsistence will be covered.
