Sparky activities on online island

5th January 2001 at 00:00
The cute residents of Spark Island host a range of game-like activities to help primary pupils improve their literacy and numeracy skills. The new website has three interactive environments, Spark Park, Sparklantis and Sparkopolis, each with 15 regularly updated activities for specific age groups. For example, six- to eight-year-olds can do their times tables while steeing a submarine through an underwater theme park and re-write error-strewn scripts in Sparklantis. Meanwhile, in Sparkopolis, 9 to 12-year-olds can chart the movement of the planets in the solar system. The site also has information on the curriculum for parents and resources for teachers who can register for a free three-month trial.
