Special schools can be the right choice;Letter

I WOULD defend Stephanie Lorenz (TES, May 14) in her fight for parents to include their Down's syndrome children in mainstream schools.

However, I would go further by championing the rights of all children with significant educational needs to be offered a special school option, should this be in the child's best interests. Sadly, not all local education authorities consider this preference to be of equal right.
