The Spice Girls, O2

Yes Posh, Baby, Scary, Sporty and Ginger are back - in my mind there's an image of the seven dwarves lip-synching to some lift music after a crash diet and a shopping spree in a sex dungeon.

When their relaunch was announced at a press conference back in June, Richard E Grant (the actor who starred in Spiceworld and doesn't care who knows it) called it a "life-enhancing announcement".

But now, with their Children in Need single bombing and serious questions being asked about Geri Halliwell's dodgy bra-and-tights combo, the Spice Girls' reunion might be the biggest anticlimax since the Millennium bug.

But let's not write them off too quickly. 2 Become 1 was a pretty good song, and Wannabe was entertaining in a slightly surreal way. Even if their new tracks can't match the feelgood factor of Take That's Shine, their December to January stint at the O2 dome promises to be a fun blast of glitter and ersatz feminism.

Plus - who knows? - they might even raise enough cash to buy Geri some decent thermal underwear.
