Christmas maths

TES maths adviser Craig Barton shares some of his favourite seasonal maths resources.

Christmas gift nets

Pupils are given pictures of gifts and challenged to draw the net that would wrap them up perfectly. A nice activity with lots of potential to get the paper, scissors and tape out.

Light the trees

An innovative use of Excel. Pupils must correctly work out the answers to sums. If they get them all right the star on the top of the Christmas tree lights up.

Christmas maths quiz

Father Christmas is making his annual trip around the world but before he can finish for the night there are five mathematical questions that need answering.

For these and more seasonal sums check out the TES Christmas maths collection. bit.lyXmasMaths.
