Spotlight on talent

Art school degree shows are often over and done with by the time many of us realise they have even been on. Now the Meffan Museum and Art Gallery in Forfar is offering people a second chance to see the work of some of this year's best graduates.

New Talent 2, which opens tomorrow at the Angus council venue and runs until August 4, puts the spotlight on 10 graduates from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, where their degree show included a giant Meccano set and a blanket of envelopes.

Jim Boon, the exhibitions manager, says: "This is the second year we've dedicated the main gallery to some of the college's finest new talent. The 2006 exhibition was extremely popular with both artists and visitors, who were delighted to get the chance to see work by emerging artists."
