Stamp duty

As a student nearing completion of my Open University Postgraduate Certificate in Education course I am, like TW Smith, busy applying for my first teaching post (TES, May 17).

I am frankly amazed at the comments in the letter. Has the writer not heard of an SAE? Surely applicants wishing the courtesy of a reply should without question enclose one.

I would not expect a reply otherwise, with some schools to which I have applied receiving in excess of 100 applicants per post (sometimes double that number).

It is TW Smith's conduct that is at fault, not the headteacher's.
