What was the best arts company event to visit your school in the past year? The Operation Foxtrot Theatre Company.

How did you hear about them? Mailshot. They send us a circular each year.

How long did they spend with you?

A whole afternoon. They were with us from 12.30pm until 3.45pm.

What did they do?

They put on a production called The Gift. There were six actors - three male and three female - and their production was especially written for schools. Largely set in the future, it was a play about Aids victims being quarantined on an island. One character was a doctor. The moral dilemma the pupils had to face was whether Aids patients should be quarantined.

Did you do any preparation work beforehand?

Yes - the company's work dovetailed beautifully with the personal and social development work that we had been doing beforehand.

Did you do any follow-up work? Yes, this is an ongoing topic.

How much did it cost?

It cost the school nothing.

Who paid?

Perth and Kinross.

What was so good about them? They spoke in a language the children could understand; the kind of language they are going to hear out on the streets. They came on a Friday afternoon and really woke the kids up and made them think.

How relevant was it to the curriculum?

In terms of personal and social development, totally.
