Staying in ... watch this

"Science is fundamentally an infantile pastime," says Steve Jones as he heads for Putney with a box of snails, to take up "The Teaching Challenge"

in a class of 10 and 11-year-olds. They have the spirit of enquiry, but to follow Professor Jones's explanation of genetic diversity is far from elementary, especially when they have those snails to play with. By the end, the film supplies a lesson plan and tips on how to do better than the famous scientist. Teachers' TV, Monday, October 31, 6.30-7pm and 9-9.30pm.
