Strike threat

Lecturers are threatening strike action over proposed redundancies at Halton College in Cheshire. Managers have proposed making 20 full-time staff redundant and bringing in controversial agency ELS to replace 63 part-timers. But NATFHE members say they will ballot for a strike if any compulsory job losses are imposed. Officials of the lecturers union were meeting managers today to discuss the dispute.
