ART

- Art teachers in Edinburgh schools are invited to nominate pupils for the prestigious Paolozzi Prize for Art. It is open to pupils in S4-6 art, and judged in three categories, taking into account creativity, attitude and dedication. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 16 April at the National Gallery of Scotland.

Robot wars

ENGINEERING

- This month budding engineers from Scotland will travel to London to compete in the VEX UK robotics competition, including pupils from three East Ayrshire secondaries. Scottish pupils have spent months building their robot creations. Those who triumphed at the regional heat are set to compete at the Young Scientists and Engineers Fair.
