Senior pupils from 31 secondary schools take part in a Scottish Parliament project today. "Political Voices" will allow pupils to illustrate their political hopes through spray-painting an 8ft-high wall in the parliament garden with "street art" to designing a cartoon with the animators behind the Dennis the Menace TV series.

Craigroyston Community High in Edinburgh has dominated the Scottish heat of the F1 in Schools competition. An S3 team, C-Force, won the sections for best-engineered car and fastest car, and now has a place in the world championships in Malaysia. The competition challenges teams to design gas- powered balsa wood F1 cars.
