Deals on meals


A higher proportion of secondary pupils have school dinners in Angus than in any other mainland authority, thanks to schemes based on pupil feedback. A new snack bar offering a healthy fast-food option at Forfar Academy is among the successful new meal services, prompting a 12 per cent rise in pupils eating school meals.

Top drum


A former Paisley Grammar pupil has returned to his old school to be presented with one of the most prestigious music awards in Scotland. Neil Paton, 17, a drummer from Paisley, has won the Young Scottish Jazz Musician Award for the under-17 category in awards organised by the Scottish Jazz Federation.
