What do you enjoy most about your job?

No two days are the same.

What do people not know about your job that they should know?

Sometimes people only know that part of the job which affects them and are surprised by the wide-ranging remit. Many don't realise that we work office hours and don't get school holidays.

Why did you start subscribing?

I became a teacher in 1977 and hadn't realised until then that TESS existed. Older colleagues soon put me right. Over the years, the magazine has been valuable for information and updates.

What else do you read regularly?

The Herald, thriller novels and occasionally Hello! The job requires a lot of reading, so reading for pleasure is a real treat.

Who would you like to see writing in TESS?

Class teachers.
