When appointed, I moved from England to Scotland and needed to become more familiar with Scottish education since I left in 1988.

What do you read first?

The interview, as it provides background to many interesting people I've met and worked with.

What should there be more of in TESS?

There could be more on universities' role in education, especially as we're all thinking about partnerships with schools.

What's the best thing we've done?

Lively coverage of the Donaldson review.

Who would you like to see writing in TESS?

More academics from schools of education.

What would you be excited to see on the front page?

News of education research by Scottish universities having a real impact on schools.
