Surge in neglect

CASES of abused children have more than trebled since 1997 in Scotland. Last year 14,183 children were neglected by their parents compared with 9,245 the pevious year.

Children's charities are calling on the Scottish Executive to investigate why the problem is growing at such an alarming rate.
